The next two meditations were something I learned in a course called Silva Mind Control. They are guided inner journeys, and take us into new worlds — worlds of unlimited imagination.
Start with the Three-Breath Entry, and even add a countdown at the end, if you wish:
THREE-BREATH ENTRY
Sit comfortably, relax….
Take a deep breath; as you exhale, relax your body….
Take a second deep breath, and as you exhale, relax your mind, let all thought go….
Take a third deep breath, and as you exhale, let it all go….
Count down, from ten to one, slowly, breathing deeply, feeling like a leaf in the wind, drifting down….Ten…nine…eight…seven…six…deeper and deeper …five…four…three…two…one…zero….
Feel yourself relaxing into the vast emptiness of all creation….
Sit for a moment and deeply relax….
Feel your presence…your Being….
YOUR INNER SANCTUARY
With your eyes closed, imagine you can see for miles. …Imagine you can create entire shimmering worlds in your mind’s eye….
Wander through these worlds, moving at the speed of thought….
Look around until you find your inner sanctuary, that wonderful place of peace and repose you have within your mind….
It is a place of total serenity that always awaits you….
It may be a place you’ve been before — the ocean, the mountains, the forests, a special place from childhood….Or it may be a place you have never seen before in this world, a place that exists only in your imagination, or on some other world….
This is your sanctuary. You are completely safe here. You feel peaceful here; you are complete here. All is well….
Add some details — you may see them vividly, or they might just be wisps of your imagination. What does it look like? Are you out in nature? Is there a structure of some kind?
You might even have some kind of inner office here.
Maybe it has a computer you can access. Maybe there are file cabinets somewhere, filled with any information you need to access….
It is your sanctuary, your place of refuge, and also a place you can go to for information, knowledge, and wisdom….
Relax in the light-filled, warm, wonderful sanctuary you have created….
Savor your feelings of inner peace….
Your sanctuary is always here, always available to you, whenever you need rest, rejuvenation, inner peace, and answers to your questions.
Any time you spend hanging out here is well spent!
YOUR INNER GUIDE
There is a special guest who comes into your sanctuary whenever you summon him or her or it: your Inner Guide.
Your Guide can be summoned simply by your thought — simply ask to see your Guide, and your Guide will appear….
Look in the distance, and imagine that, far away, you see a tiny figure approaching you….
As it gets closer, you start to see details. Is it a man?
A woman? A child? An animal? An angel? A saint? A goddess?
Your Guide approaches you with great love, with radiant warmth….
Ask what their name is, and listen quietly for the answer….
Ask anything you want, and listen….
Your Inner Guide is always at your call, here to guide you and protect you and show you the wonder of what is….
Sit down and have tea (or a cup of healing elixer!) with your Guide…or just stand and talk, or dance, or run around and play, or do whatever you feel like in the moment….
You’re creating in your imagination a wonderful inner friend who is always there with great advice and wise counsel. Listen to your Inner Guide….
Thank them for coming. Thank them for their words of wisdom….
Perhaps you embrace….
Your Guide leaves, and you find that, after being in the radiance of their presence, you too are filled with grace, inner peace, and lightness.
When you relax and do these meditations, you see it: the world of shimmering light within you, the light of your Presence, your Being. It is the world of magical creation.
To create anything, you have to imagine its end result, as fully realized as you can. Focus on the end; keep the end in mind. Why not start with the big picture? Why not dare to dream your ideal — and explore new worlds with new possibilities?
Little did I know, when I was twenty-two, the effect this funny little thing we did would have on me a decade later. I had no idea when I first did it. I’d followed my girlfriend into a backto-the-land experiment that lasted only about four or five cold and rainy months. But, one night, something happened that I’ll never forget.
We were sitting around a fire, maybe ten or twelve of us, and one couple said, “Let’s play a game we play at church camp. Let’s imagine five years have passed, and everything has gone as well as you can possibly imagine. What would your life look like?”
We went around the fire, and each of us spoke. I have absolutely no idea what I said at the time — so, obviously, it had no effect on my life. But the day I turned thirty, I remembered playing that little game, so I sat down and went through it. The first time I did it, I took a sheet of paper, wrote ideal scene at the top, and filled the page. It took about ten minutes.
Later on, I did it again in my favorite way: flat on my back, deeply relaxed, starting with the Three-Breath Entry.
THREE-BREATH ENTRY
Sit or lie comfortably, relax….
Take a deep breath; as you exhale, relax your body….
Take a second deep breath, and as you exhale, relax your mind, let all thought go….
Take a third deep breath, and let it all go….
Sit for a moment and deeply relax….It feels so good to deeply relax….
Bathe in the light of the life energy within you….
Become aware of the field of light around you, in front of you, above you, and within you….
Within that shining light, you can imagine anything you want to imagine….
Imagine five years have passed, and everything has gone as well as you can possibly dream. You have become a powerful magician, able to create in reality what you dream of in the scintillating worlds of your mind….
What does your life look like?
What does the world look like?
What do you do on a typical day?
What do you have around you?
What kind of person are you?
What have you accomplished?
What have you given to the world?
What are the most important things in your life?
You are a bright, shining pillar of creative energy….
