she wanted now was to hear it even more clearly. It was like she was hypnotized by the melody. Like a snake coming out of the basket when a snake charmer plays a song on the pungi. The door opened and the music stopped. Jay was snapped back to reality. What was she doing? She should have just walked past the door. The room was rather small and pretty dark as the blinds on the windows were closed. At one corner of the room stood a small piano. The paint on it had worn off in many places and it was missing the left pedal. The walls were covered in posters and music sheets were lying everywhere on the ground. In the middle of the room, a young woman who was staring at Jay was holding a bass guitar. «„Oh my, sorry. I thought everyone had left so I could play a little louder.“» she lifted the guitar strap over her head and put the guitar on a stand that was next to her. «„Was I too loud?“» Jay was a little startled «„No, no, I just accidentally walked in. I was just passing by and heard a nice sound, so I opened the door.“» «„Pfft,“» the woman let out a small laugh. Jay tilted her head.

«„You’re funny!“» the woman squatted down and started picking up all the messy notes that had formed piles here and there. «„Do you play any instruments?“» she smiled and looked at Jay. «„Me? No, absolutely not.“» Jay had never once thought about learning how to play an instrument. The woman stood up and put the pile she had collected on top of the piano. «„Do you wanna try playing some? We are always looking for new school band members. There aren’t really many right now. You know how much our school prioritizes studying above anything else. Most of our current members already knew how to play instruments before joining, but I can always teach you from scratch. Are you interested in anything specific? Piano? Guitar? Maybe trums?“» the woman walked closer to Jay as she took a step back. «„I’m sorry, I really have to go home right now, but I’ll think about it.“» Jay walked out of the room and closed the door «„Goodbye!“» For some reason she hadn’t wanted to say no.

      Chapter 3

Jay walked down the lone road leading to her house. It was so familiar to the point of every bigger stone on the ground or every pit that had been left behind after a long rain. The old fashioned country house at the end of the road was a place where she had spent all of her nights.
