Shayne woke up with a jolt that eventful morning on that warm day in July. She strained her ears to listen to any unusual noise, but all was quiet. Even though the house was still in its usual state of reverie from her slumbering family, instinct told her that something was very wrong. She couldn’t seem to shake that unsettling feeling of dread that a mother gets when one of her children is in trouble.
Shayne looked at the alarm clock by her bedside – it was shortly after three o’clock in the morning.
She suddenly felt nauseous and decided to get up and stroll around outside in her yard to get some fresh air hoping this would alleviate the sick feeling that kept welling up inside her.
Once outside, she breathed in the effects of the night’s essence and looked around under the moonlight. All appeared to be safe and secure.
Not convinced that everything was as it should be, she lingered outdoors for a little while longer repeatedly scanning the perimeters of her home.
It was just before four o’clock in the morning when she made the decision to return inside the house to try to and catch up on some more sleep before the day began. As she entered the back door the sound of the phone ringing caught her attention. Instinct told her that it would not be good news.
She was right!
A woman had passed by an accident in the wee morning hours and thought that she recognized a damaged vehicle along the side of the road as that belonging to her neighbor’s eldest son.
The woman, very concerned about the welfare of her neighbor’s offspring, called Shayne to confirm her suspicions. At that moment the bottom fell out of Shayne’s world and immediately after her neighbor had given her directions to the crash site, Shayne took off to find out if her son had been involved.
What she saw when she got there made her reel in shock!
The impact of the crash had been so bad that the box of the truck had separated from the rest of it and had been lodged in the bush at the side of the road. Loose coins from a dish on the console had been tossed about with such force that they had become embedded in the roof of the cab.
The vehicle did belong to her son, but there were no signs of him anywhere.
Someone at the crash site told Shayne that the owner of the automobile had been taken to the hospital by ambulance.
She left immediately for the facility.
On the quick trip to the emergency room, Shayne prayed for her male offspring with the intensity that she had never done before. “Please let him be okay.” She pleaded to God for help.
Her Creator did hear her pleas as thankfully, the only injuries her eldest son sustained from the wreck were a concussion and a few bruises. The police report and all those who had witnessed the scene concluded that it was a true miracle that he even survived such a horrific accident.
To Daniel, it was indeed a miracle, especially when he told the story later about the events as they had unfolded earlier that morning. He described that on that particular long weekend the weather proved to be favorable so he and his friends decided to set up at a local campground to celebrate Canada’s one hundred and fifty birthday.
They all enjoyed taking part in the day’s festivities and when dusk started to set in, they finished off the grand celebration by lighting a bonfire and prepared for the fireworks that would soon be seen lighting the skies.
It was later that evening due to the after-effects of the fresh air and the day’s activities, that Daniel became a little weary and retired to one of the tents to get some rest.
Shortly after three in the morning Daniel woke up and made the decision that while everyone was still asleep, this was a good time to vacate the premises.
Daniel was anxious to get home to his beloved pet canine, Hank, who had been alone most of the previous day.
As the young man started his vehicle he did something that was totally out of the norm for him and that was to fasten his seatbelt.
Following this safety procedure was something that Daniel was not in the habit of doing but, at the exact moment he seated himself inside the truck, he thought he heard the voice of his mother nagging him as she always did to take this necessary precaution before driving. He chuckled to himself at this because the tone of his mother’s voice sounded so clear that she seemed to be physically present looking over his shoulder to make sure he was following the rules of the road.
That night he was glad that he had paid attention to his mother’s telepathic promptings as this maneuver saved his life.
Daniel doesn’t remember losing control of his automobile. He felt the wheels of his truck hit the soft shoulder of the road and then the back end of the four-wheeler spun out of control, launched through the air and rolled over twice before hitting the culvert nearly missing a tree by inches. This is when Daniel lost consciousness.
When he came to he could see someone sitting beside him. He vaguely remembers the vision of a person and although it was hazy, it appeared to be his Grandpa Moore who had passed away a few years ago.
Even though the sight of his deceased family member seemed hard to believe, he felt a sense of peace surround him, especially when he heard the voice of his papa intuitively assure him that he was going to be okay but he needed to immediately get out of the truck and seek assistance.
Daniel doesn’t remember removing himself from the cab and even wondered later how he managed to extract his body out of the mangled mess.
He must have passed out again after seeing the male apparition because the next thing he recalls was waking up in the grass at the side of the road.
Once he regained some composure, the injured lad carefully got up from the ground and in a dazed state began to walk in the direction of the nearest house for help.
During this trek he knew he was not alone as he felt his papa walking beside him and his mere presence comforted Daniel giving him enough strength to get to the nearest home where the owners immediately called for an ambulance.
At the hospital, Shayne finally breathed a sigh of relief when the doctors told her the only injuries her son sustained were non-life-threatening.
It was during her visitation with him, she told her boy that she had gone in search of him then described in horror what she had witnessed. “I don’t how you ever survived. Tell me what happened.” She asked him.
Daniel went on to explain the events that had led up to the collision earlier that morning and then finished the story by telling her that when he awakened briefly after the crash someone was sitting beside him.
“What do you mean someone was with you? I thought you were alone.” His mom asked him sounding a little perplexed.
“I was Mom. I did not have a passenger in the car with me - but I tell you when I woke up I was not alone. There was someone sitting right there beside me and I smelled smoke so I believe it to have been Grandpa Max.”
After giving it some thought, his mother had to agree with her son about who his Savior had been that day because Grandpa Max Moore had owned a livestock farm and cured his own meats hence, his clothes carried the slight odor of smoke on them.
It was much to his mother’s relief, that Daniel was released from the hospital two days after his arrival into the emergency room. With heavy heart Daniel drummed up the courage to ask his mom if she would take him to the auto impound where his truck had been towed so he could assess the damage.
When Daniel saw the demolished pile of debris, this twenty three year old man started to cry. It was quite evident to him that the only way he could have possibly been freed from the wreck was through the help of an Angel and he knew exactly who that Spirit had been.
After the disaster Daniel went through a personality change. Prior to his life-altering incident he had been arrogant, a little rebellious
