My Name is Erin
The small voice inside my head kept repeating the name “Erin, Erin, my name is Erin.”
When I was in my early twenties I happened to be in a book store in the metaphysical section looking for something interesting to read when I stumbled upon a book about Angels.
This book that had practically flown off the shelf in front of me had a section in it describing how someone could find out the name of their Guardian Angel. Intrigued, I purchased the book on the spot and brought it home to look it over.
Like most books of this nature, meditation is the sole ingredient in finding out the right answers to the questions that are concerning you at the time so I found a quiet space in my bedroom and began to still my mind.
During the course of this still moment, I heard a small voice silently repeating the name Erin.
“Erin, Erin, my name is Erin,” the voice whispered like a gentle caress inside my head. I was very pleased that she had responded so quickly.
I refer to my Guardian Angel as a ‘her,’ being of the female persuasion, because even though Angels are neither male nor female in spiritual form, they will honor your wishes and appear to you in the gender that you feel most comfortable to nurture your individual soul.
Some fifty years later, as I was completing the last aspects of this manuscript, I again happened upon another interesting read in a local book store. It went by the intriguing title, ‘Ask Your Guides’ by Sonia Coquette.
In this book by Sonia, there was also a section in finding the perfect fit representing your GA.
I decided to try another meditation technique just to find out what my Guardian Angel’s name was at this point in my life.
I chose a warm spring day and sat under a gazebo in my back yard enjoying the slight breeze that had just blown in. As I relaxed in my chair quieting my thoughts, I once again asked for the name that represented my Heavenly Caregiver.
It didn’t take long before I heard the words that I had heard during my earlier years, “Erin, Erin, my name is Erin.”
I thought I was hearing things because I couldn’t believe that the Guardian Angel that I had over fifty years ago would be the same one that I had now.
I began to talk to myself out loud - an annoying trait that I had carried along with me since my childhood, “Okay, let’s see if we can come up with a different name like, perhaps, Serenity.”
I paused then said, “No, that can’t be right because Serenity is the name I call my beautiful maple tree out in the front yard of my house. Um.....,” I sat there in my patio chair and contemplated some more.
Finally I yelled out, “Perhaps the name should be Tranquility or maybe even Peace.”
Upon given it some further thought I scolded myself once again and then blurted out, “Oh, don’t be so stupid Mary Ann, nobody names their Angel, Peace.”
I decided to give up and get on with reading some more of the book. Of course, a couple of sentences further, I hit another moment of synchronicity.
Sonia described in those following few words that you have the same Guardian Angel from the moment of your birth till the moment you crossover to the Other Side.
Well that explained it! No wonder all I heard were the words, “Erin, Erin, my name is Erin.”
Another lesson was learned that day as I knew better than to have second guessed an intuitive moment. Experience from the past had told me that if you spend needless time analyzing a solution, the human trait of the Ego mind enters and the insightful force of the moment is dissolved into the ethers.
Sometime later, curiosity got the better of me and I decided to browse the web on the computer to find out what the name Erin meant.
I shouldn’t be surprised at these ‘aha’ moments but the universe is always keeping me on my toes. The name ‘Erin’ is Gaelic for Peace!
Angels in the Garden
When the Everest’s went to bed on that May evening in 2002, they had no idea that the night’s events would change their lives forever.
The two teenage boys who were fifteen and sixteen years old, were asleep in their rooms as was their stepmother, Maryke. Les, the father was nodding off on the couch watching TV.
Just before two in the morning, their dog, a pure bred brown boxer, woke up his sleeping master. The dog had become quite agitated and with a very good reason. The house was filled with smoke!!
It was then that the fire alarms started going off throughout the house. Les jumped up off the sofa and quickly woke up all the members of the family who immediately fled outside.
Outside in the night wearing only their pajamas, the family watched in shock as their house went up in flames. It was leveled in a matter of minutes.
They lost everything in that house fire - well not quite everything, they had what was the most important to them and that was each other. By the Divine grace of God, all the members of the family, including their beautiful pet canine who had saved them, had gotten out unharmed.
Several witnesses the next morning looked at the pile of rubble and were amazed that the occupants had got out safely. It was later determined that the cause of the blaze was electrical.
A few days after the blazing inferno the Everest family gathered up enough courage to returned to the scene of their nightmare.
All their personal belongings had been destroyed, including most importantly the things that people treasure the dearest; something that money cannot replace and that was the treasured family photos.
Les strolled over to the general area where the living room once had stood and started kicking around the ashes. He was hoping that he would find something that had withstood the fire. He got lucky!
There, under all the ash and soot lay a picture of his Dad and even though the frame had been destroyed and the glass protecting it had been broken, it was still a picture of his Dad.
Meanwhile, Maryke was looking through the area where the garage was located. She also found a picture in the ruin; an old anniversary picture of her parents that she had stored in the attic. The picture was a little scorched around the corners, but it too was still in good shape.
The following spring after the unfortunate tragedy, the Everest family finally decided they were ready to rebuild a new house on the same property where the old one had stood.
It was on this beautiful spring morning that Maryke donned her garden gloves in readiness to replant her garden at the front of her new home.
As she was digging in the dirt she came upon something that surprised her. She found two paper Angels lying in the soil.
It just so happened before Christmastime three years prior to the blaze, her niece had sent her a card where she had placed two confetti Angels inside its folds. Maryke had stored them in a glass container and then placed them in her curio cabinet to be displayed.
Maryke had thought that they had vanished along with the rest of her belongings, but there, in the garden on that warm spring day, she found the Angels still miraculously preserved as when they had been first placed in the jar, however, the container that they had been resting in was nowhere in sight.
Let us remember that Angels make their presence known to us in a variety of different ways such as in a flicker out of the corner of your eye, in the vision of a dream you had the night before or perhaps maybe even in the gift of confetti Angels found in a garden reassuring the occupants of a home that they were being watched over.
