Application Deadline Oswego uses recommended filing dates to encourage early submission of applications. Freshmen applying for the fall should file from August 1st through January 15th, although applications are considered after that time if space is available.

An early decision option is available to you as a fall-semester freshman applicant if you have decided that SUNY Oswego is your first choice college and you plan to enroll here if accepted. You should only select this option if Oswego is your first choice.

To be considered for early decision, all parts of your application for admission must be received by the Oswego Office of Admissions by Nov. 15 and must be marked for early decision.

Early Decision notification letters will be sent Dec. 15. If accepted for early decision, your tuition and housing deposits are due by Jan. 15.

Financial Aid Because Oswego is part of the SUNY system, tuition is very affordable. Even so, nearly 70% of the students take advantage of financial aid, which can include grants, loans and part-time employment. In addition, more than $2,500,000 in merit scholarships – including prestigious Presidential Scholarships – is available for outstanding freshman and transfer students.

       INTRODUCTION:

Bryant University is a private, coeducational university founded in 1863. Bryant prepares graduates for success in their personal and professional lives by offering challenging academic programs, a culturally enriching campus life, professional experiences, a curriculum including advance technology, and a global perspective in course work and extracurricular activities.

       4 DISTINCTIONS

       ENGAGED STUDENTS

Bryant is committed to providing students with a balanced educational experience. Students with majors in the College of Business are required to choose a minor from the College of Arts and Sciences, and vice versa. This integration of business and liberal arts creates partnerships among disciplines and broadens student’ career options after graduation.

Bryant students explore the world beyond the classroom by pursuing active internships and participating in study abroad programs.

Internships at organizations such as Fidelity Investments (a financial services company located across the street from Bryant’s campus), Walt Disney World, Price Waterhouse Coopers, the New England Patriots, media outlets, and a variety of nonprofit organizations give student practical, hands-on work experience. Entrepreneurial students can even develop their own business on campus. An example is the student-founded, on-campus, door-to-door laundry service.

Bryant also encourages all students to have a passport and to use it before they graduate. Study-abroad programs in forty-one foreign countries are available to qualified students, and can encompass a semester, a summer, or a full academic year. These programs give students a better understanding of world issues and make Bryant graduates more attractive as prospective employees in the marketplace.

Bryant has two unique international-study programs: the Sophomore International Experience and the Bryant-Lingnan Summer Student Exchange. The Sophomore International Experience allows students to spend two weeks overseas, learning about other cultures and how businesses operate globally. Recent itineraries have taken Bryant students and faculty to Italy, Russia, China, Panama, and Ecuador.

The joint academic-exchange program between Bryant and Lingnan College of Sun Yet-sen University, China, is aimed at promoting cross-cultural cooperation and scholarly exchanges between students and faculty of the two universities. Overseen by the U.S.-China Institute at Bryant, the program’s activities emphasize strength in language and academic training while promoting social and cultural understanding. Students participate in focused research projects and hands-on site visits, as well as in more traditional academic learning experiences.

      GREAT TEACHING

Bryant offers more than twenty major and twenty four minor areas of study, encompassing the liberal arts, sciences and business-related fields. The most popular areas of study are marketing, accounting, management and finance. The academic programs focus on the intellectual and professional development of each student, preparing for leadership positions in a wide range of careers. All students complete a core curriculum that integrates business and liberal arts, utilizing state-of-the-art technology.

The faculty is highly qualified: 98.5 percent of Bryant’s full-time faculty hold PhD’s or have earned the highest degree in their field of expertise. They continuously engage in research, publishing, consulting, community service and practical experience. With a sixteen to one students to faculty ratio, each student can develop relationships with faculty members for guidance and support. Among the faculty members at Bryant are a practicing clinical psychologist, a nationally respected expert in advertising effectiveness and public policy, and the former poet laureate emeritus of Rhode Island.

Foundations for Learning is a required course for freshmen, designed to help them transition successfully from high school to college, preparing them for academic and social success. The classes are small and are taught by tenured and tenure-track faculty, as well as by administrators, including Bryant’s president, Ronald K. Machtley.

      VIBRANT COMMUNITIES

Bryant is a student-centered university, and more that 83 percent of its three-thousand plus students live on campus, leading to important friendships and mentorships. Most students spend freshman year in the dorms, sophomore and junior years in suites, and senior year in on-campus townhouses. All Bryant housing facilities have been upgraded within the last four years, and new dorms and townhouses are being built. In addition to its modern facilities, Bryant’s campus is 100 percent wireless, so students can send emails from their dorm rooms, the dining halls, the athletic fields, or while sitting in a tree.

Student life is stimulating, with seventy clubs and organizations on campus, and twenty NCAA Division II athletic teams. Intramural and club sports offer opportunities for all Bryant students
