Dedication
This book is dedicated to the countless students and parents who have taught us
what to teach and how to make it comprehensible. To best thank them, a portion
of all proceeds from the book will return to programming for the students at the
Valley Program in Northern Valley Regional High School Districts.

Acknowledgment
I wish to thank all the children and their families who participated in the creation
of the pictures for this book. I must acknowledge two individuals in particular
at Northern Valley Regional High School Districts. First is John McKeon, Special
Education Director, who lent his unwavering support and encouragement for
all creative projects that might help his students. Secondly, Ellen Doyle,
Behavioral Consultant, really sparked this project by first suggesting the
need for more visually based learning tools for her students.
Veronica Palmer, my editor, must also be mentioned, as her help was crucial
to systematize and clarify the pictures and accompanying text.
Finally, my wife Beth and our children, Jake and Lindsay, constantly remind
me of the paramount importance of humor and fun in everything you do,
especially teaching.
