“Get out of here. Now!”
Sam grabbed the backpack. A go-bag packed with essentials for survival, which she’d know meant one thing: they were in trouble.
“Who is it?” she asked, panic in her voice.
He couldn’t tell her who. He didn’t know. “Put on your vest and let’s go.” Sidearm in hand, he let her out.
Amy clung to him, her face pale. He wanted to tell her it was going to be okay, but he couldn’t. Someone had posted their location on the dark web. His phone was tapped, too. “The red car that followed us earlier just pulled into the parking garage. Our location’s been compromised.”
He was dark until further notice. In the wind with Amy, no backup.
“I’m going to get you out of this. I promise.”
He shouldn’t make promises he had no idea he could keep, but Sam steadied his nerves and prepared for flight. This time he wouldn’t fail. They were in danger because he’d let his guard down by sinking into his emotions.
If he did so again, Amy would pay for his mistakes with her life.
I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
—Psalms 34:4
For Jesus
Who saved me
Who rescued me
Who carries me through
Who delivered me from all my fears
Thank you so much for being a part of this three-book journey in the town of Mountain Springs...and in Jenna and Amy’s reunion. I’ve had the best time weaving together Erin and Jenna and Amy’s stories.
The common thread for them is fear. Isn’t it amazing how often God has told us in the Bible not to fear? He knew from Creation that we would be afraid. There is so much to fear in this world. But here’s the thing... Fear comes when we forget the One Who created us is the One Who is in control. That’s true for me. When I begin to doubt, I pull a Peter, put my eyes on the waves and sink. The beauty happens when I, like Peter, cry out, “Lord, save me!” He always stretches out His hand and lifts me up.
I pray you know Jesus in that way. That those things you fear are things you can lay at His feet. As one who battled debilitating fear for a decade, I know it is not easy, but when I look back on those years, I see Jesus more than I see fear. Lift your head and seek Him. I promise He is there.
I’d love to hear from you!
