      Introduction To Old Groman

      Many years ago when I was just a child, I would often spend the night at Grandma’s house. Mother worked long hours at the local cafe, and if it got too late, she would wait until morning to pick me up.

      I can still smell the hickory burning in the old woodstove and Grandma’s famous chocolate chip cookies just fresh out of the oven. After munching down a couple of Grandma’s cookies with a glass of warm milk, I would go with my grandma down the hall to her personal library. She would let me pick out a book for her to read to me. I, along with Smokey (Grandma’s pet mouse), would listen intently as my grandma reads. I loved all of the stories my grandma would read, but the one that sticks out most in my mind is the story of Old Groman! And now I would like to share this story with you.
