About My Book
Hola! Thanks for taking the time to read my collection of poems. As a little girl, I've wrote poems when I had trouble communicating my thoughts and feelings in a verbal manner. Writing out my thoughts and translating those emotions helped me cope and process situations in a better manner.
Chismes & Chill From A Bruja In Brooklyn is all about being an unapologetic witch; that one shouldn't be afraid to provide the lowdown on what's happening with your surroundings. In short, don't be afraid to call out what's wrong. We have a voice that shouldn't be silenced.
The overall theme of my poem collection focuses on spirituality, relationships and mental health. Too often, we witness judgement in the spiritual communities while trying to cope with our own internal thoughts. As such, it can be difficult to channel out what we truly mean, without risking much on our identities. Just like my poems, they are a bit rough on the edges like the borough of Brooklyn. We can be harsh, but we have a lot of feeling when we want to express our minds. My hope is that I'll share this part of my journey with everyone. Additionally, I hope my poems will help you find the courage to speak up in the midst of injustice.

01
Too often,
we cannot
see the truth
Because we are
too blind to
distinguish
What is real
and gritty from
sugary lies
02
Poor in finances
Rich in life
Lemme tell you how
I ended my strife.
I got the means to
Wish debt good night
What’s done is done
I sleep with no fight
It’s been fun.
03
The thing about
falling in love
is not about
staying within
rose-colored
glasses.
It’s the feeling
of pain and
pleasure.
04
You kissed me
with the feeling
of joy and hunger.
I felt your response
knowing how much
you needed
My reassurance and
my whole existence
in this moment.
05
My tears are
wet, thinking of
a potential
Loss. I succumbed
to the unknown
desolate fear.
Then you showed
up and wiped
them away.
06
Hunger; I feel
the pain in my
stomach.
Knots of anxiety
and purging the
unknown
I am scared to
be full from
the taste of fear.
07
My fingers weaved
a certain spell
of anticipation
As I ponder
on grasping your
undivided attention
Even though
you are sitting
next to me.
