      INITIAL PHONE CONVERSATION

      Choose two or three potential estate liquidators/companies to interview on the phone, then in person.

      Here is a list of what you should discuss in the first phone conversation, though not necessarily in any depth until you meet them in person.

      1.Indicate the reason for your call. Provide a brief explanation of your situation.

      2.Give them your timetable.

      3.Inquire about the availability of the liquidator.

      4.Ask what services they provide and what their fees are.

      5.Tell them your goal and what’s important to you in this process.

      6.Advise them briefly about the condition of the home: anyone living there currently, utilities on or off in the home, hoarder situation.

      7.Advise them briefly about any relevant, unusual circumstances within the estate or family.

      8.Arrange for a face-to-face interview, if you want to pursue them.

      OTHER SERVICES OFFERED

      Since each estate sale company is different, it is important to look at your needs and match them with the services a company can offer you. Some estate liquidators will customize their skills and services to what your needs are, so always ask.

      These additional services may or may not be included in the estate sale commission. Often, they are a separate fee, such as a hourly rate, depending on the service.

      Ask if they offer the following services, if you find yourself in need of them:

      1.Advisory/Consultative services

      2.Appraisal or Valuation services

      3.Online auctions

      4.Consignment/Brokering services

      5.Estate Clean-out services (packing up remnants, arranging for charity to pick up, leaving the home empty and broom clean)

      6.A select few may offer moving services, handyman services, maid/cleaning services.
