I bless you for reading this book and I tell you that you have great power. This book places power in your hands – not in the hands of the church, not in the hands of the town hall. You are the point and the circle, as am I, and I wish us to work together to bring Light into your physical and spiritual existences.
Chapter Two
You are Dreaming Reality
Michael’s observations: There is very little for me to add by way of introduction to this chapter, except to note that this was the last communication I would ever receive from Joseph clairaudiently, all subsequent ones being given whilst I was in a trance state.
Joseph: I would like to speak to you today about dreams and about the nature and potency of dreams. For every soul, from the most advanced through to the soul who is newly created from God and who has just incarnated onto a physical plane, dreaming is the only means of expressing existence. Each of us dreams throughout our lives, throughout our existences, and in dreaming creates a pattern around ourselves, which also interpenetrates the patterns of other dreamers to form what we call ‘reality’.
The dreamer never really becomes involved with the dream. If you are watching a film on your level you can experience the emotions of that film, you can experience the highs and the lows, but you are not in the film, you are not really part of the film. So it is with the human spirit or with any spiritual expression from God; the pattern is created by the dreamer but the dreamer is not the dream. The dreamer is watching the dream in order to have experiences, in order to build into him/herself more Light.
The problem with the Earth at this present time is that the dreamers have forgotten that they are dreaming and they believe that the dream or the ‘film’ around them is actually reality. It is not! Furthermore, the dreamers are dreaming the wrong dream: they are dreaming a dream of violence …and depravity …and lack …and loss …and disease.
My purpose in creating a second book is to show men and women their potential as dreamers, but first of all I have to convince them that they are dreamers.
I would use the analogy of men and women going to sleep at night, because at night you experience all kinds of images that play out around you, all kinds of adventures, and yet when you wake up you do not consider yourself to have been a part of them, do you? But they are so real for you whilst you are experiencing them: you can walk down streets, you can interact with people, you can feel pain, you can feel joy, you can feel love and then you wake up and where has it gone? Where has that dream gone that engaged you to such a great extent? It was never there. It was a projection around you by your unconscious mind.
When you are awake the same thing is happening, from waking up in a morning until going to bed at night you are involving yourself in a ‘waking dream’ but it is a dream of the conscious mind as well as the subconscious mind, because you are projecting into the pattern – the Field that is around you – what you expect from life. And, because you are conditioned by society, you expect the worst from life: you expect illness; you expect pain; you expect loss and, as a dreamer, whatever you dream will always come up to your expectations.
…Always!
Perfectly!
So, in the measure that you suffer you have first wanted that suffering (I should correct myself and say: ‘expected’ that suffering). So, you expect pain and you receive it; you expect discord and you receive it; you expect from the world at large (not just from your own lives but from the world at large) there to be violence, there to be upset, there to be anger; you expect people to treat you badly; you expect nations to treat other nations badly; you expect there to be torture; you expect there to be all manner of base things happening …and so those things happen.
In this second book I want to teach you how to change the dream and it is a simple thing – you can change the dream at any time in your life, during any day. I want to give to you an exercise to prove to you that you can change the dream…
I want you to put your hand on your wrist and I want you to feel your own pulse and then I want you to tell yourself that you are healthy, that your pulse is regular, that you are feeling great and that there is, coming to you from God, a great deal of health on this particular day. That on this particular day everything will go right: everybody will speak to you nicely; everybody will treat you with respect; good things will happen to you; you will be free from aches and pains; with every breath you take you will be more invigorated.
And I want you set off on this day with these things in mind and I guarantee that, if you leave your normal dream behind – if you invest in this little fantasy of mine for twenty four hours - you will feel so much better. Good things will come to you. The telephone will ring and somebody will make you feel good. Things will happen to you at work that will be positive. There will be a spring in your step. You will forget your imagined age; you will feel young again; you will feel energised.
I want each of you to try this.
Maybe some of you reading this book are currently terribly depressed, terribly down, terribly oppressed, and maybe you feel that a day is an unimaginable length of time in which to feel good, in which to place your trust in things going well (rather than going wrong). Then try it for an hour. Try it for an hour in the morning, an hour in the afternoon and an hour before you go to bed. And for that hour say to yourself: ‘I am taking time off. I am taking time off from my normal dream to dream something different, to dream something positive,’ and you will find that during that hour and by the end of that hour in the morning and the afternoon and the evening you will feel better despite yourself.
I say ‘despite yourself’ because your physical being with all its might will fight against this new dream, will try to convince you that you are still ill, still depressed, still lacking. But your soul will jump for joy; your soul will be powered by your subconscious will for that hour by you reiterating: ‘I am well. I have abundance. Everything is going right!’ And you will find that there is a duality of nature within you – that your conscious mind is saying to you, ‘I am still ill,’ but something within you, some spark within you, is saying, ‘No, everything is right – I feel better.’
This is a book for people who want to change their world, and by the ‘world’ I mean your whole planet. So, if you are reading this book it is because you want to change things. To change things you have to first change yourself, because if you take into the greater dream your own personal dream of lack, your own personal dream of doubt and your own personal dream of ill-health, then how can you affect the greater dream other than in negative ways?
First you have to change your own sphere and then you enter the greater sphere – the greater pattern, the mesh, the Field of people’s thinking and beliefs – and you alter it because you have first altered yourself at a subconscious level, day-by-day, by believing in a better dream.
And it is that simple!
You simply have to detach yourself from the concept of reality being ‘reality’… because it is not reality: it is always a dream, it is always a construct – no matter what you see, or feel, or hear, or smell or touch – it is a construct. It is not you! It is your belief manifest and your belief comes from yourself. It comes from your parents. It comes from the man that you pass in the street who says, ‘You are looking tired today.’ It comes from your employer who says, ‘You are not very good at this.’ It comes from your news programmes where you are told that the world is running out of energy, where you are told that people are going to war and killing each other, where you are told that this is wrong with you, that is wrong with you, that you are going to suffer in this way and that way. And you take on board, you absorb, you build into your dream, images from the greater dream.
