Thrival explained
The meaning of thrival needs to be explored more in order to truly understand what it means. The beginning of thrival is thriving. In order to thrive, you must do more than survive. Thrival is the ability to thrive when everybody else is just surviving. It is being able to take the bad times and thrive.
In today’s economy we see most companies are either flat-lining or declining. If you are able to thrive in this economic climate, you are thriving; this is what I call thrival—not just surviving like everyone else but taking the bad times and turning them into great times. That has been happening to me since January 2009. I have been able to grow my business double digits over twelve months. This is thrival! To be a part of the baby boomers’ explosion is wonderful.
Having the right company at the right time is necessary to create this thrival experience. Thrival is the only way to go, survival is for everybody else! Why survive when you can thrive?
Foreword
I am thankful for the friendship of a man who invested in me one of the greatest investments that can be made—time. Since I knew nothing about network marketing prior to being introduced to Mark, my need was great. Thank you for being my guide through each step of this journey. We have prayed, cried, and laughed together. You have counseled and encouraged me in the valleys, and celebrated and rejoiced with me on the peaks. As my business partner, your skill and knowledge in this industry has been invaluable. My personal experience has been amazing and life-changing; the lessons shared in this book will transform lives of normalcy into lives of greatness if the reader applies the knowledge learned. Thank you, Mark Mandela, for your mentor ship, for teaching me to rise above myself, for your availability, your daily consistency, your character, your drive and passion to help others and for your belief in me. Thrive on!

I met Mark Mandela in February 2009 through my wife, Lena, who owns and operates an herb store. Because of my wife's busy schedule, she introduced me to Mark and asked me to handle the business side. My background is in wholesale men's clothing. At the time I had been traveling a five state area for 18 years and was very successful in that profession. After falling in love with the product, I decided to develop an organization with the guidance of Mark. Mark began painting a picture of how he could see me transitioning from my traditional sales job into network marketing where I could do something I could never achieve in traditional sales; I could build a network of people (a team) that would allow me to leverage my time and build a residual income! Mark has invested much time into my life mentoring me, and we have become the best of friends. Mark believed in me from day one! He taught me how to follow a system, to unlearn old sales habits, and to develop new skills in order to impact the lives of thousands in a positive way! I highly endorse Thrival from Ordinary to Extraordinary because when you apply the lessons from this book, you, too, can become extraordinary! –Mike Livingston, Locust Grove, GA
Networking for Dummies would be another great title for this book. Mark Mandela does an excellent job explaining in layman's terms how to excel in network marketing. These principles can also be applied to improve most other areas of life. As a novice myself in networking, the development of this book with Mark has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding ventures I have ever experienced. As Mark's ghostwriter, I knew nothing about networking when he and I started this endeavor; however, my knowledge has been increased vastly through the writing of this book, through his daily mentoring calls, and through his personal mentoring. I am one of the many people who have been taught how to go from ordinary to extraordinary! I owe a great part of my success and a new belief in myself to Mark Mandela. Thank you, Mark, for your time, your consistency, and your example. –Tamara Brown, Loganville, GA
Even though I was very experienced in business, I had no prior experience in the world of Network Distribution. My experience in business began with my degree from the University of Akron in the Respiratory Therapy Department that led to my owning a Durable Medical Equipment company for the past 30 years. I was introduced to Mark Mandela in October of 2010. My unique relationship with our author started with a common background in the medical field and has blossomed into a mentor/apprentice relationship in the network marketing industry. Mark has had a great impact on my network marketing business and his unending willingness to share his years of experience has allowed me to quickly build and lead my distribution business. I count it a privilege to be able to sit under his teaching on daily conference calls. I have been able to watch and put into practice what Mark writes about in this book. Everyone will greatly benefit from these principles. This book will surely become a must read for all who want a successful business and I am proud to say Mark Mandela is my mentor and my friend. –Willie Grove, Akron, OH
Mark Mandela was instrumental in teaching me the basics of networking from his own success in business and in dealing with others. His passion was contagious and by listening to his counsel, I became rich in friends and in the pursuit of making a difference in the lives of others. Because he never stopped believing in me, I had great success within my first year of business. Our family counts him as a dear friend because he patiently taught us how to thrive in the worst economic times. We will be forever grateful for his guidance and have been so blessed by his friendship! This book puts at your fingertips practical and effective methods of networking from Mark Mandela who understands that networking is about building relationships. Thrival will be a great reminder of the power of people working together because networking is the highest form of service. As others notice your success, they will observe what you do and will become an imitator of what you do. I recommend this book to anyone who wants the joy and rewards of having a strong network with the right people. Networking is not something you do for one day. It is a process that takes time, patience, passion and persistence. Welcome to the adventure within Thrival and to the adventure that every day can hold! Choose today to network as a way of life, and you will have chosen wisely for yourself and the world. –Amy Stroup, McDonough, GA
Preface
Where you are on the journey is not as significant as the fact that you have decided to embark on the journey. Now that you have initiated the journey and you are at some stage in your journey, let us focus on the important factor—whom are you bringing with you on your journey?
Wherever you find yourself in your journey, you will discover the ability to relate to one of the following characters from the movie, The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. Are you like Dorothy who started her journey by following directions?
