Getting there
Bise Morto is just a half mile (0.8 kilometers) down the road from Playa Funchi – a
27-minute drive from the entrance of the National Park along the short route. Start by following the directions on page 21 to get to the park. From there, follow the directions to Playa Funchi but continue past the parking lot toward the ocean. The road heads directly toward the coast before turning left and running parallel to the shoreline. Cross the cattle grid and continue driving until you see

Bisé Morto
the Bisé Morto inlet on your right. There is a small parking lot on the right immediately after the site.
Access
Access to Bisé Morto is challenging, even compared to the other sites in the park. A 25-foot (7.5-meter) sheer cliff stands between the parking lot and the water below. You will need ropes to lower your dive gear to the beach and to climb down safely. (The ropes are necessary to climb back up again upon exiting the water.)
Once on the small rocky beach divers must be careful to avoid the shallow reef areas on either side of the narrow bay, which is only about 45 feet (14 meters) across. Wave action can be strong at this site, so divers should surfaceswim through the swells and into
deeper water as quickly as possible. The small beach may not actually be visible at high tide, so time your dive accordingly. There is a yellow mooring buoy located in the sand directly off the beach.
Description
As with most other sites in the park, the waves and current at Bisé Morto can be strong, particularly rip currents. The name of the site means “dead deer,” supposedly in reference to the fields of staghorn coral found here. Divers may see French angelfish, scrawled filefish, triggerfish and large grouper at this site. Some divers have also reported seeing larger pelagic organisms here, such as whale sharks and humpback whales. The shallower areas are known to offer better diving than the deeper reef at this site.
