x 11 inches).

This kit doesn’t include paper for this model, so you can make as many as you want with your own paper supply, of any size, and decorate them any way you like.

      1. Position the paper with the long edge toward you, then fold the bottom edge to the top.

      2. On the top layer, fold the top edge down to the crease. Repeat behind.

      3. Fold the model in half, left-to-right.

      4. Unfold halfway. This is one corner of the fence.

      5. Make 3 more of these units.

      6. Feed the ends of each unit into the openings of the adjacent unit. You can slide them back and forth to change the fence’s shape.

      7. The completed Fence.

      TREE

The Tree can be used to add more shade to your zoo. You can place it by a body of water and gather your animal models around it. When you run out of “Tree” paper, you can make more from any size square, and fold an entire forest! Note that the accordion pleats in step 5 don’t have to be parallel; in fact, the Tree will look more natural if they’re not.

Begin with the side that you don’t want to appear on the outside facing up.

      1. Fold corner-to-corner. Unfold.

      2. Fold the top two edges to lie even with the center crease.

      3. Fold the point up and slip it under the two flaps.

      4. Fold the model in half.

      5. Accordion-pleat the model top-to-bottom any way you like. The creases don’t have to be parallel. Unfold.

      6. To make the Tree stand, swing the rear portion around and to the left.

      7. The completed Tree.

      Zoo Guest

What zoo would be complete without guests? When you’re done folding, stick on a face from the sticker sheet or draw one of your own! You can also curve the arms by rolling them with a pen or chopstick.

To make a smaller version of the guest using one of the papers included with the kit, do the following:

      1. Position the paper like a diamond.

      2. Fold the left corner to the right corner and crease, top-to-bottom. Unfold.

      3. Bring the bottom corner up to lie along the central vertical crease (creating a triangular flap), and then fold across the bottom. The farther up you bring the corner, the bigger the square will be.

      4. With scissors, trim around the edge of the triangular flap, as shown below.

      5. Unfold what’s left, and you’ve got a smaller square.

Begin with the color you want for the face and hands facing up.

      1. Fold the left corner to the right. Unfold. Bring the bottom corner to the top but don’t crease all the way; just make a pinch across the vertical center crease and then unfold.

      2. Fold the left and right corners to the center. Unfold. Fold the bottom corner up to the center. Mountain fold the top point behind to the center.

      3. Fold the left corner to the right-most crease.

      4. Fold the corner back to the left along the existing crease, which lies along the center of the model.

      5. Fold the right corner to meet the left corner.

      6. Fold the top layer on the left back along the existing crease.

      7. Turn the model over, left-to-right.

      8. Round out the top of the head by mountain folding the top corners. Round out the chin by tucking the bottom corner under. (Hint: To find the best position for this crease, you can make a valley fold first.) Create hands by folding in the tips on the right and left.

      9. Make the model 3-D by mountain folding it along the middle crease, then folding the arms forward along the edge of the body.

      10. The completed Zoo Guest.

      Python

To keep the point of the Python’s tail sharp, hold the flaps at the tail end of the model together as you twist the body around and around.

Begin with the side that you don’t want to appear on the outside facing up.

      1. Fold the top to the bottom corner. Unfold.

      2. Bring the right corner to the left and make a pinch in the center. Unfold.
