       Title Page:

The A-727 TorqueFlite is an engineering masterpiece that was used in some of the most powerful production muscle cars. Adding some of the best aftermarket components turns it into an almost indestructible transmission suitable for many applications!

       Back Cover Photos

       Top:

In an alternating fashion, knock each weight against the bolt head to free the pump. If no slide hammers are available, use a screwdriver or other prying device to wedge between the sun gear shell and the front clutch retainer or to tap on the rear side of the pump.

       Middle Left:

The torque converter has an impeller integral in the housing, front cover, turbine, stator, ring gear, and, if it’s a lock-up unit, a clutch and apply piston. This is a truck A-727 low-stall lock-up version.

       Middle Right:

The low-reverse drum still inside the low-reverse band is splined to the inner race of the overrunning clutch. Slide the drum out; it may also pull the overrunning clutch inner race with it.

       Bottom:

TorqueFlites were found in some of the best and most unique muscle cars. This 1970 AAR Cuda 340 6-barrel automatic (with TA Challenger engine notation decals) has only 34,000 miles on the original A-727.
