      The aura is the first sense to pick up the energy of a place. Imagine that the electrical pulses in your etheric body look like very fine hairs similar to the appearance of metal filings being picked up by a magnet; as they stick to the magnet they attach like very fine hairs. The electrical energy around the etheric body looks very similar and it moves and vibrates as it brushes against other frequencies. This is often experienced as hairs standing up on the back of the neck or a cold chill running through the body.

      Many people are aware of atmospheres – the good and bad ‘feelings’ they get from places and people. The human energy field has an atmosphere, a collection of electromagnetic energies surrounding the human body. It appears like an oval-shaped field – not dissimilar to an egg-shaped light prism – which surrounds the body. All living things have an aura and this can be seen or sensed by certain people with a natural sensitivity. Not all psychics can ‘see’ auras; some ‘sense’ them. This sensing is an intuitive feeling about the particular energy or atmosphere, colours and textures within the auric field of the person they are being sensitive to.

      An obvious way to sense atmosphere is to enter a room or house where there has just been an argument or a death – it feels like walking into a dark cloud. In contrast, the energy in a house where there has been a celebration will be uplifting and vibrant. A home is very much a reflection of a person’s personality and an extension of their aura.

      The aura, its colours and brightness tell us about the vitality, health and emotions of an individual. All thoughts and memories are contained within this energy field. It is made up of the electromagnetic force of the body, reflecting the physical vitality of a person.

      Colours Within the Aura

      Our aura is made up of many beautiful rainbow-colour vibrations that form an egg shape around the physical body. The colours of the aura reflect our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual states. When mind, body and spirit are completely balanced and in perfect health, the aura will be a beautiful shimmering rainbow.

      As well as giving off our own colour vibrations, we also absorb light energy through our aura. Light is drawn into the auric egg, which acts like a prism, breaking down the light into its component colour elements. The vital energy from light rays, with its seven component colours, provides us with the nourishment that we need to keep us in perfect health. However, if the life force embodied in the seven healing rays becomes blocked then imbalances occur. When this happens certain colour energies build up in some energy centres (chakras) while others become depleted of energy.
