Whales are the largest creatures
in the world. It can be hard to
imagine just how big whales are.
The largest whales have mouths
big enough to swallow a car and
are longer than a basketball court.
It is often hard to see how big
whales are because most of
their bodies are underwater.
Whales spend most of their time
underwater in the ocean, coming
up only a few times every hour to
breathe. Once they fill their lungs
with air, they dive back down
below the surface again.
The biggest
whale of all is
the blue whale.
One can weigh
as much as
2,500 adult
humans!
Humpback whales have the
longest flippers of any animal.
They help them steer in water.
