NEVA
ENGLISH/SPANISH BILINGUAL EDITION
“Neva’s neobrutalist punch demonstrates . . . the enduring power of art.”
—Time Out New York
This politically charged, haunting and humorous play tells the story of three actors, including Anton Chekhov’s widow, who gather to rehearse scenes from The Cherry Orchard as Russia faces an impending revolution. A savage examination of the relationship between theater and historical context, Neva received its English-language premiere at The Public Theater in New York, directed by the author.
GUILLERMO CALDERÓN is Chile’s foremost contemporary theater artist. His plays include Diciembre (December), Clase (Class), Villa, Discurso (Speech), Quake and Escuela (School). His productions have toured extensively through South America and Europe.
ANDREA THOME’s plays have been produced throughout the U.S. Her other theatrical translations (Spanish to English) include Rodrigo García’s You Should Have Stayed Home, Morons (commissioned by Center Theatre Group for Radar LA).
