Fernando Machado | Musician Composer, collaborator, instrumentalist and music-educator, Fernando Machado is a classically trained guitarist having studied with Brazilian Masters such as Henrique Pinto, Camilo Carrara and Paulo Porto Alegre, and holds a Masters Degree from the Mmus Leadership from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. With a diverse career, Fernando applies his interests in music in several different contexts and has worked alongside musicians, dancers, actors, story-tellers, visual artists and workshop leaders in Brazil, the UK, The Gambia, Malaysia, Palestine, Indonesia (Bali) and Singapore. As a songwriter, he leads the Lambrego project and has songs in the repertoire of groups like Babado de Chita, Kolombolo Diá Piratininga and Carta na Manga.
Penny Elkins | Musician Penny Elkins is a London-based drummer, percussionist and tutor. She has been playing drum kit for over 10 years, covering a vast range of styles and playing many live shows in this time. Penny graduated from Thames Valley University in 2008 with a degree in Music, Event Management and Creative Technologies. In the last four years Penny has taken to percussion and plays a wide variety of percussive instruments. She is versed in many different styles including African, Latin and Brazilian rhythms. She currently plays in the female flamenco duo Dos Chicas who are available to hire for restaurants/weddings and special events. Penny is also a drum workshop facilitator and runs community and corporate classes in Brazillian Samba and African drumming. She has recently returned from West Africa where she was studying with master Djembe Fola Nansady Keita. In addition to this, Penny is also a club percussionist who can accompany a DJ to create an exciting visual aspect to any event or club night. This also works well for events such as private parties, weddings, bar mitzvahs and birthdays!
Shama Rahman | Musician Shama is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer and is about to release her forthcoming album Fable: Time, which you can pre-order here: www.pledgemusic.com/projects/shamarahmanalbum Shama is also an actress. Theatre includes A Golden Age (Tara Arts), Babel (site-specific), Folk Contraption (Old Vic Tunnels), Jugular and has also trained in physical theatre with Complicite, Song of The Goat, and Grotowski. Television includes the lead in 24-part BBC drama series Bishaash.
