Holly looked away from the babies and the stroller was gone.
A scream ripped from her throat. “My children! Someone’s taken my children!”
She ran outside and saw a man pushing the stroller across the lot. “Stop! Give me my children!” At breakneck speed she ran after him, unaware that Cole was running beside her.
Her agonized cry sliced through him, and he willed his legs to move faster. Seconds later his stomach clenched as he saw the abductor shove the stroller toward the street. Holly let out a loud scream as the twins rolled into the path of an oncoming car.
With only seconds to react, Cole raced toward the stroller. Loud wails erupted from the children as he grasped the handle. But it was too late. He shoved the stroller away just as the car hit him. Breath left his body as he was thrown into the air. The last he remembered was the sound of Holly screaming his name.
