      Why get into Spray Tanning

This Master Class Spray Tanning course will show you the true facts and fundamentals of tanning so you have a complete understanding and confidence to open your own spraytanning business or even just tan yourself. Once completed you will feel knowledgeable, refreshed, confident, and raring to go to open or begin your spray tanning business immediately making money you’ve only dreamed of and having alongside a flexible lifestyle you may never have thought possible. I started out in a little tin garden shed in 2004. The shed was cold, small and in winter it was wet and there were plenty of spiders for customers to look at while we sprayed them. What surprised me was they kept coming back again and again even though the 5min experience must have been cold and unpleasant, they kept coming back. I was good at tanning and so passionate about what I was doing, I really loved tanning people. I never imagined it would turn into a full time job, I just had a tanning addiction that needed to be fuelled and I figured if clients paid I got tanned for free. One person told another and another told two and two told four etc and before I knew it, I was working two days a week and earning the same amount of money I could earn in a full 40 hour week employed by someone else.

This was something I had dreamed of my entire life, was it really possible to be only working two days a few hours and getting that much money. Well the dream continued and only got better. Tanning can offer you the freedom you have only dreamed of whether you decide to do it from home or add it to your existing salon the job is super rewarding both financially and by helping others feel good about themselves its a win win situation Some of the benefits of spray tanning are ..

      • Freedom to work when you like

      • Working form home

      • Earning as much as a full time job in half the time

      • Making people feel good about themselves

      • You stay brown all year round

      • Minimal cost to set up

      • Big margins

      A little bit about me

A LITTLE ABOUT ME (course instructor) Hailee Wheeler. As the owner and founder of BROWNALLYEAR Limited, I personally have been tanning for over 16 years and have a vast amount of knowledge about tanning, skin issues, bodies, women and tanning products. They say after 5 years in one industry you are an expert and after 10 you become the master, but you can always learn more. 16 years ago after I had my first spray tan done in a little salon in Takapuna Auckland NZ, that was it, I was hooked, one month later I purchased a tanning machine so I could be brown all year long. My friends came and got tans as did my Mother and her friends and it pretty much snowballed from there. 5 years in my beautiful amazing best friend Mother was diagnosed with the BIG C and this led me down the path to One of the last photos taken of me and my Mom before she went home finding a tanning solution that did not contain any chemicals, nothing was on offer in NZ at the time so 2 years of solid hard work and research I developed NZ’s first organic spray tan solution and BROWNALLYEAR was launched in March 2010. From there the company just went from strength to strength and a few years later we launched a retail range. I am often found in salons training staff and decided that all my knowledge should be spread further than a few people at a time and here is the culmination of research, hard work and dedication of over 16 years in the industry.

DHA (pronounced) Die - hi - droxy - acetone

DHA or Dihydroxyacetone is often derived from plant sources such as sugar beets and sugar cane, and by the fermentation of glycerin with out trying to get all complicated Dihydroxyacetone or DHA, also known as glycerol, is a simple carbohydrate a simple sugar, c o n t a i n i n g t h re e c a r b o n a t o m s . D H A i s a hygroscopic white crystalline powder. It has a sweet cooling taste and a characteristic odour which is that tan smell everyone knows, the purer the fermentation the less smell.

DHA was first recognised as a skin colouring agent by a German Scientists in the 1920s. Through its use in the X-ray process, it was noted as causing the skin surface to turn brown when spilled. In the 1950s, Eva Wittgenstein at the University of Cincinnati did further research with dihydroxyacetone. Her studies involved using DHA as an oral drug for assisting children with glycogen storage disease. The children received large doses of DHA by mouth, and sometimes spat or spilled the substance onto their skin. Healthcare workers noticed that the skin turned brown after a few hours of DHA exposure. Eva Wittgenstein continued to experiment with DHA, painting liquid solutions of it onto her own skin. She was able to consistently reproduce the pigmentation effect, and noted that DHA did not appear to penetrate beyond the stratum corneum, or dead skin surface layer. Research then continued on DHA skin colouring effect in relation to treatment for patients suffering from vitiligo. This skin browning effect is non-toxic, and similar to the Maillard reaction. DHA reacts chemically with the amino acids in the protein keratin the major component of the skin surface. Different amino acids react to DHA in different ways, producing different tones of coloration from yellow to brown. The resulting pigments are called melanoidins. These are similar in coloration to melanin, the natural substance in the deeper skin layers which brown or "tan", from exposure to UV rays.

      Sunless Tanning

Coppertone introduced the first consumer sunless tanning lotion into the marketplace in the 1960s. This product was called “Quick Tan” or “QT”. It was sold as an overnight tanning agent, and other companies followed suit with similar products. Consumers soon tired of this product due to unattractive results such as orange palms, streaking and poor coloration. Because 9 of the QT experience, many people today still associate sunless tanning with fake-looking orange tans. In the 1970s the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) added DHA permanently to their list of approved cosmetic ingredients. Today, DHA is the main active ingredient in many sunless tanning skincare preparations. Lotion manufacturers also produce a wide variety of sunless tanning preparations that replace DHA with natural bronzing agents such as black walnut shell. DHA may be used alone or combined with
