“This book is for all those who didn’t make it, to those who would be

saved and the puzzle that still lies ahead.”

      Acknowledgments

I want to dedicate this book to my mother Isabel. She has stood by me through thick and thin.

To my dear friends Normand and so many others in the background that helped inspire, give me vision and encouraged me.

This book is for those who are honest value creators and people of good-will everywhere.

      Forward

Hi, my name is Normand Desmarais.

I had the pleasure of writing the forward for Daryl Carrigan’s first book. In it many of the characters were introduced. Daryl had woven the story line in a very unique manner. It made you happy, angry, and at times very frustrated with the villain’s.

This second part is chock full of adventure, sub-plots and surprise twists and turn. I found it to be very entertaining and informative. As usual Daryl uses his imagination to good use.

You the reader will be well entertained.

With much respect Normand Desmarais author Of the Ripple Effect trilogy.

      Billy

Billy was finishing another day at High School and was on his way home.

While walking home he saw many of the really good looking girls being driven home by the jocks and was happy to see they were treated right.

Billy was good looking but was a little shy and didn’t know how to approach the girls.

What Billy didn’t know was, despite his apparent shyness, there was a special type of innocence and niceness about him that made him irresistible to the young ladies at the High School.

While walking Billy saw a special girl that he liked, her name was Brenda Fisher. Brenda was a really nice, good looking down to earth girl who was apart of the varsity cheer leading squad.

Billy had talked to Brenda a number of times, but with his nervous twitch he never gained enough courage to ask her out on a date.

When Billy arrived home, he immediately went upstairs and checked the e-mails on his computer.

Billy was hoping to receive a e-mail from his father after his divorce from his mom, but there was very sparse communication between either one of them.

All of a sudden there was a voice, and it yelled, “Billy, dinner is ready.” It was his mom, Francis.

When Billy came downstairs and his mom said, “I’ve made your favourite meal of pizza.” He sat down at the table and started to devour his meal.

Francis asked Billy. “Billy how was your day at school?”

Billy answered “Mom, it was really fun at physical education today as we played dodge ball with my winning team.”

Francis asked. “Did anything else happen?”

Billy replied. “Yes. Unfortunately, the jock’s gave me a hard time today.”

Francis further enquired and said, “What did those jock’s specifically do to you?”

Billy responded. “They called me loser and a retard, and pushed me into the lockers at school.”

Francis then replied, “Billy, you never mind those jerks and just focus on being honest, hard-working and being kind. Being nice does not mean being walked all over, but showing kindness and respect to those who aren’t mean to you.”

“Keep in company those who have a right frame of thinking and acting. You will build each other up. Avoid those who are consistently unkind to others as it shows in what they say and what they do.”

“Remember having a right frame of mind and attitude is an overwhelming part of the battle.”

Billy looked at him mom and said, “Boy mom, you’re smart.”

Francis said, “Billy, I’ve seen and been through a lot. If you listen to what I have to say, you’ll avoid a lot of problems in life.”

Billy said, changing the subject, “That was really good pizza. What’s for dessert?”

“There are some danishes in the crisper.”

      Billy then replied, “Thanks.”

Changing the subject, Francis asked. “Billy, the upcoming Halloween dance is coming up at High School. Have you asked her out?”

Billy then said, “Who are you talking about?”

Francis replied, “You know who I’m talking about, Brenda Fisher.”

“Mom, she’s too good looking for me. She hangs around with those good looking jock’s at school.”

Francis replied, “What did I tell you about your thinking process!”

      Billy replied, “Sorry mom.”

Francis continued, “I’ve seen the way you look at her when I drive you to school, and one day when I picked you up, I saw they way she looked and smiled when she looked at you.”

      Billy enthusiastically replied, “Really.”

      Francis replied. “Yes, really.”

Francis, continued. “Are you going to ask her out?”

Billy then said, “Well, I guess so. I’ll ask her out.”

      “That’s great Billy.”

Francis continued, “Billy, would you please clean off the table and then get onto your homework.”

      “No problem mom.”

      ***

The next day Billy was a school and met Brenda in the hall. Billy was a little sheepish when approaching her and went up to her and said, “Hi Brenda, How are you today?”

Brenda replied, “I’m doing pretty good Billy.”

Billy then said, “Brenda, if you’re not too busy, do you want to go to the Halloween dance in two weeks?”

Brenda saw a sweet and kind guy that put his heart on the line. Even with his nervous twitch he was willing to show that he liked her.

“Billy, I don’t have a date that evening and I’d love to go out with you.”

Billy immediately smiled, looked Brenda in the eye and said, “Brenda, you’ve really made my day. Could I please have your cell-phone number?”
