Raise your hand if you’re tired of eating boring healthy food. That’s what I thought, which is why my mission from day one of starting the FlavCity YouTube channel was to make healthy food sexy, exciting to make, and so darn tasty! I can make you one promise: there’s not one recipe in this cookbook that won’t slap your taste buds silly with flavor. Nope, I did not throw in the towel and put a couple of lazy-butt recipes in this book. I would never do that to my flavor family.
This cookbook has 50 low-carb keto meal prep recipes that taste good—actually epic—and 25 individual keto recipes. Keep in mind that each meal prep has 2 to 3 components, so there are well over 125 recipes in this book that you can mix and match for endlessly tasty keto combinations.
Having a social media following of over one million family members—that’s what I like to call you guys—has really helped me understand the food you crave and the recipes you want to eat. I don’t make videos on the FlavCity YouTube channel just to see my perfectly quaffed hair. I make them to motivate our viewers to get into the kitchen and make healthy, homemade recipes that taste great and help you achieve your dietary goals. Keep in mind that Dessi does my hair; you don’t want to see what it looks like if I try to do it!
I went to one of the most prestigious culinary schools in the country—my mom’s kitchen. Have you heard of it? Perhaps you are a graduate too? Mom sparked the culinary bug in me when I was a little shorty, and I have never looked back. From cooking in my tiny little college apartment, to hosting dinner parties for my friends when I graduated, all I ever wanted was to be in the kitchen creating recipes. That’s why after working in finance (as an options trader) for more than ten years, I had to quit my job and go all in with cooking. We had this incredible YouTube channel, social media accounts, and blog that were growing, and I wanted to put all of my efforts into that. Dessi quit her job in 2018, and amazing things started happening. We had a number of viral videos (check my grocery store haul videos), built a new blog, and finally got motivated to write a keto cookbook after so many fans requested it.
It’s funny to think that all of this started because I got rejected from Food Network Star. I wanted to be on that show so badly because I knew I would win and get my own show. So, when they gave me the cold shoulder, I decided to start a YouTube channel, and I think things have turned out pretty well. We publish one or two cooking videos every weekend on the FlavCity YouTube channel, daily videos and posts on Instagram with nightly IG stories of what I’m making for dinner, and recipe videos on the FlavCity Facebook page. And don’t forget about our shiny new blog that is the home to every recipe
