      Tom goes to Green Valley School. He is in the fifth grade. His teacher is Miss Brown. She is kind and always smiling. In class, he reads books and writes notes. He likes math and science. Sometimes he talks too much with his friends. Miss Brown tells him to be quiet. At lunchtime, Tom eats sandwiches and drinks juice. After lunch, there is a break. He plays football with his classmates.

      Chapter 3: The Football Game

      During the break, Tom plays football with his friends. He is fast and good at kicking the ball. One day, the ball flies over the fence. Tom climbs the fence to get it back. He jumps down and lands in a flowerbed. He gets dirty but finds the ball. He runs back to his friends. They laugh and play again. After school, Tom walks home. He feels happy and tired.

      Chapter 4: Homework Time

      When Tom arrives home, he has some homework. He does math exercises and writes an essay about animals. He uses his notebook and pencil. His sister Lily sits next to him and draws pictures. Sometimes she asks him questions. Tom helps her with spelling. Their mom brings them tea and cookies. They drink tea and finish their work. After homework, they watch cartoons.

      Chapter 5: Family Dinner

      In the evening, the whole family eats dinner together. Tom’s dad cooks soup or pasta. They talk about their day. Tom tells them about the football game and how he got dirty. His parents laugh. Lily shows her drawing. It is a picture of a cat and a tree. After dinner, Tom helps clean the table. Then he takes a shower. He feels clean and ready for bed.

      Chapter 6: Going to Bed

      Before sleeping, Tom reads a book. He likes stories about adventures. Today he reads about pirates and treasure. He imagines himself on a ship. When he finishes reading, he turns off the light. He says goodnight to Lily. Soon, he falls asleep. His dreams are full of exciting places and new friends.

      Chapter 7: A Rainy Day

      One morning, it rains. Tom looks out the window. The sky is grey and cloudy. He wears a raincoat and boots. He walks to school slowly because the road is wet. At school, the playground is muddy. The children stay inside during break. Tom plays board games with Ben. They have fun even though it is raining. After school, the rain stops. Tom sees a rainbow in the sky.
